Photo Shoot Planning

What emotional impact do you want your photography do have upon the reader and how will you achieve this?

The emotional impact that I desire is that it will entice the reader into my magazine, for example, having my model to look directly into the camera to give the effect that the image is looking at the reader, making it very intense. My models facial expressions may change, for example, they may be laughing into the camera, giving the page an exciting vibe.
What personnel do you need? Who are you going to photograph?

I will be using a male model to be my main image, the styling of this photo will create a urban vibe, using a young model as my target market will be young adult and of both sexes. I will be using a photography studio for the majority of my photographs, although I will be taking some photographs outside.
What props will you need?

The props that I will be using are a stool, which I will use during the photography studio shoot as I want my model to be sitting during some photographs. I will also be requiring my model to change outfits during this shoot. I will require no further props inside the photography studio, although outside I may require a my model to use a cigarette.
How are you going to emphasise colour?

I will be using Photoshop to touch up/edit my images. My main image for the front cover will be in black and white, as it is covering up all of my front cover, with the colours coming from the fonts used on this page. To touch up and enhance the colour of my images throughout the magazine I will be using Photoshop. I will also be using this programme to touch up the colour of my fonts to suit the theme of my magazine.
Have you briefed your personnel/models?

I briefed my models to understand the purpose/style of the shoot, giving them a understanding of the props that may be used both outside and in the photography studio, filling in risk assessment forms for my shoots.
What lighting will you need? Any other equipment?

I will be using lighting in the photography studio which will enhance the shadowing when my image is in black and white for my main image. I will be using natural lighting when outside of the studio, although adjusting my camera lens to create effect.
Where will you shoot? Will you need a backdrop?
In the studio I will be using a black backdrop, as this will be most suitable when editing my image into black and white. When shooting outside the studio I will be using a brick wall.
Mise-en-scene - Make-up? Costumes? Props?

My models will require to change outfits, although the costumes will be simple/normal day wear which will be suitable for a R&B magazine for example popular clothing/brands. The props that will be used is a stool for my model to be sitting for some photographs inside the studio and a cigarette for the model outside the studio, creating a urban/young vibe.
