Key Features of a magazine

Masthead- This is the title of the magazine which may usually have a logo on it. It draws the attention of the potential reader, using in this case, a bold font and loud red and white colours. It is normally positioned in the left corner. It helps the potential customer identify which magazine it is, and its font and logo may become more popular and recognised.

Main Image- This is the image which covers the front cover of the magazine, usually taking up the majority of the cover. In this case, it is covering the majority of the front cover, with sub headings and cover lines surrounding it, overlapping the image.

Coverlines-These are lines under the main cover line which give a taster into the different stories which will be throughout the magazine. It helps draw a variety of reader into the magazine as it shows it has varied stories.

Main coverline- This is what the magazine will be about, for example who is featured or the main story, and normally who is featured on the front cover, helping the potential readers identify what the magazine will be about and its genre.

Sub Heading-This tells us what other things are featured in the magazine, similar to cover lines, they are alternative stories to the main cover line story.

Barcode/essential info- This is essential for a magazine as it must display the price for the reader to see and a barcode in order to purchase.
